Life Troubles and Yarn Problems

Wouldn't you know, just as I start a new project life throws me a curve. I really did mean to update this blog more frequently and certainly to post more pictures and patterns. All in the spare time I have between 4 kids. LOL Unfortunately life decided there would be major problems this week which prevented me from getting to this. I spent most of this week waiting for a loved one to receive open heart surgery. Lots of time for knitting. Little time for blogging.

Isn't knitting wonderful? It goes anywhere and is such a comfort. I've started another baby project as my sister is due for her first come April. It's a mint green layette set: blanket, kimono, hat, booties. Here's hoping it's done before her baby comes.

As I worked on the blanket part today, my yarn kept twisting and tangling. Now, I know about putting the yarn in a can or a bag. Personally, the bag has worked great for me but this time was different. I was going to make a blanket pattern from Lion Brand's Pound of Love. The pattern called for 1 ball of Love. As you read the directions for the blanket, you are told to hold TWO strands of yarn together. Ok. This no big deal. I'll use the trick of taking one strand from the middle and one from the outside. Feeling very smug, I find the outside strand and attempt to find the inside end. UGGHHHH! Let me tell you, right now, I'm feeling the "Love" for this yarn. I couldn't find the inside end. Pulled out much too much yarn. I had tangles all over. It's been a mess to work with. I should have bought two balls and dealt with all the extra yarn. After all, when is too much yarn a problem? Now, I'm not saying anything bad about Lion Brand or how they wind their yarn. I am quite sure this mess was all me.
